Nominaciones para los Premios de Cine Europeos 2009 y John Hurt en el Sevilla Festival de Cine Europeo

El actor británico, John Hurt recibió el domingo 8 de noviembre el Premio Especial a su Carrera Cinematográfica y presentó su última película, el

drama criminal 44 INCH CHEST, dirigida por el debutante Malcolm Venville, que compite en la sección oficial.

Hurt se emocionó ante el larguísimo aplauso que le otorgó el público y agradeció que la vida le hubiese permitido trabajar en lo que tanto le gustaba: actuar. Álex de la Iglesia, director de la película LOS CRÍMENES DE OXFORD en la que actor trabajó, fue quien la entregó

el Giraldillo -junto a Maribel Montaño, delegada de Cultura del Ayuntamiento de Sevilla- tras deshacerse en elogios hacia el actor.

Fue dentro de la Gala Británica en la que el Cine Británico presentó las películas de la Sección Oficial y The New Brits -las últimas tendencias de los nuevos directores del Reino Unido- . Precisamete después de la Gala se proyectó la peli FISH TANK, que narra la historia de Mia, una quinceañera inestable, con problemas, que no encaja en el sistema escolar y es rechazada por sus amigos. Un cálido día de verano, su madre lleva a casa a un misterioso desconocido llamado Connor, el cual promete cambiarlo todo y llevar el amor a sus vidas...

Totalmente recomendable la película cuya directora y guionista Andrea Arnold estuvo allí para presentarla.

En ese mismo acto recibió el Premio Especial de la SEFF la directora del British Film Institute, Amanda Nevil. NOMINATIONS FOR THE EUROPEAN FILM AWARDS 2009
